Laughter Yoga

Laughter Yoga is a fun and unique way to improve health, increase happiness, and connect with others using a combination of playful laughter and breathing exercises. The exercises are easy to learn and anyone can do them. The philosophy of laughter yoga is to “laugh without reason.”  Anyone can laugh, even without jokes or a sense of humour.

Studies have shown that simulated laughter produces the same physiological and emotional benefits as “authentic” laughter. Endorphins increase and mood is elevated. Cortisol levels are reduced and perceived stress levels decrease. Laughing is also a form of mindfulness. We aren’t worrying about the future or dwelling on the past when we are laughing.

Laughter Yoga was developed by an Indian physician, Dr. Kataria, who started a club with only 5 people. Now there are over 6,000 laughter yoga clubs in over 70 countries!
